Charity walk for Macmillan Cancer Support

I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support for Macmillan Cancer Support because I lost friends and loved ones to cancer and took part in a hiking challenge for Macmillan last year.

I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support for Macmillan Cancer Support because I lost friends and loved ones to cancer and took part in a hiking challenge for Macmillan last year.

As this was the first year for me walking and hiking I decided to go on an organised walk. I found my love for long distance treks when I walked the Camino Primitivo and decided to up the game this year. The South Downs Way lies in front of my doorstep and I walked many miles on this beautiful path over the last few months.

The South Downs Way is a long distance footpath in Southern England and is one of Britain’s National Trails. It runs around 100 miles from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex, with a small loop around Eastbourne. This will be 3 day hike along the South Downs Way and starts at Winchester Station and ends in Eastbourne.

I plan on wild camping and will try to get food delivered to my evening stops as I might not be able to carry everything in my backpack.

Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs.

Training walk in the South Downs

It was a very rainy and stormy day but we decided to walk the Jugg’s Road. This is a moderate walk with low hills in the South Downs national park.

The walk we did was partly on the Jugg’s Road and started in Hove. I walked along the coast towards the Brighton Marina where I met my walking companion and we then took the Road up to the racecourse in Brighton.

Jugg’s Road is a walk from Brighton to Lewes using the pre-1770 Road which was allowed to green over when the new A27 was built. I read that the route was used to transport fish by donkey from Brighton to the market in Lewes.

There are some amazing views to the sea and over the Downs.

We abandoned the Jugg’s Road when we reached Kingston and went on a circular walk back to the racecourse up in Brighton via Woodingdean.
